We’ll call these ‘betting ideas’ for now

Needless to say, my midweek picks were an unmitigated disaster – none out of three.  I have had a few wins but I’ve not stuck them up on here as it’s been the ones I’ve been less confident about that have come in.

But that’s what gambling is about, or at least that’s what my gambling is about.  I don’t claim to be a proven tipster or have a golden system, I don’t trawl extensively through stats (but I do use them), I go for my picks based on what I’ve seen of the teams and a bit of form. In fact, maybe we should think about this more as a bet diary rather than tips; at least until I start picking winners.

Anyway, hopefully the tide will start to turn and we’ll kick off with one from the Premier League.

Leicester host Watford on Saturday in what should be an entertaining affair. Watford surprised me by beating West Ham last time out but I can’t see them taking any points in the Midlands, but I can see them scoring.  The Foxes are a best price 27/10 to win with both teams to score and I’ll be having a go on that.

In the Championship Charlton are having an absolute shocker with five defeats in their last five games, they’ve also failed to score in each of those losses.  It is not the time to be coming up against one of the form teams and Sheffield Wednesday should be too good for the Addicks on Saturday.  At a best price 11/10 the Owls are well worth backing.

My last call is another away game as Burnley travel to Wolves and at 19/10 again they’re worth some consideration.  Wolves have one win in their last five and the Clarets are in form and have a better squad than their hosts.  Wolves are no mugs and this is a risk but at that price I reckon it is one worth taking.

Profit/loss: -4.54
