They say never chase your losses, but how are you supposed to get your money back?
The ‘they’ I’m referring to is the Gamble Aware people. They also say don’t gamble when under the influence of alcohol or drugs, so I guess we should just close Las Vegas down… and when was anything ever less fun when intoxicated?
I’m a little down, 18 ‘points’ spent and I have a profit/loss of -4.84 but screw Gamble Aware – Let’s do some chasing.
The international break is always a tough time, I tend to shy away from the actual internationals themselves simply as they’re too unpredictable. The same could be said of Leagues One and Two to be honest but at least there is form to go on.
Sheffield United have been languishing in the third tier for far too long and every year I think maybe this is their season, so far I’ve always been wrong but at some point I’m going to be right. I don’t know if they’ll go up this season but I reckon the Blades will beat Southend at home today at 10/11.
Peterborough host a Fleetwood side who have managed just one win in their last five games on the road – and that was at luckless Barnsley – the other four have been defeats. The Posh have been a bit sketchy themselves lately but a 4-0 win over Doncaster in their last home game leads me to think they’ll batter and deep-fry the Cod Army at evens.
The last one comes from League Two. A lot of my betting success comes from backing against terrible teams, rather than going for winners. That’s why I’ve gone for Plymouth at York at 6/5, granted I don’t know a great deal about the Pilgrims but their away form isn’t so bad – and the Minstermen head into this one on the back of four successive losses.
Normally I’d have a search for the best odds but I’ve just used Paddy Power here, last night got a bit rowdy watching Ireland grab what could be a big result in Bosnia and I’m a little delicate right now but it’s nothing a few more beers won’t fix later, or maybe a bloody mary we’ll see. I also checked William Hill and there was no difference so I doubt there is much in it if there are better prices, aside from that I’m not your mum – you can always check oddschecker or wherever yourselves. I have been picking out singles previously but here I’m just going to go for this as a treble, which pays out at 7.40. I’m going to stick two ‘points’ on this so if it lands I’ll get 16.80 back.
