I’ve gone solely for multiples in my last few rounds of betting pieces and that has been an error, had I stuck with a singles system I’d have chipped away at my loss but instead I’ve just added to it. With that in mind, I’m going back down the singles route and will be backing it as a treble as well from here on in. That elusive win is getting closer I can sense it.
Watford v Norwich
Watford have won just two of their last five at home and the other three have been defeats – but they were against Man United, Arsenal and Crystal Palace so there is no real shame in that. The Canaries’ away form is pretty poor with just five points to show from seven games, although they did take Man City close a few weeks back.
I think Watford should just shade this and at 6/5 they’re a good price.
Brentford v MK Dons
Dean Smith oversees his first game as Brentford boss after leaving Walsall against MK Dons on Saturday and normally I’d shy away from a match with a new manager involved but at 10/11 the Bees are hard to ignore. They were perhaps a bit hard done by at Bolton on Monday and here they’re up against a Dons side who have lost five of their nine games on their travels.
Hamburg v Mainz
This is the biggest risk on my coupon in my mind but I’m going with it anyway. Hamburg picked up just their second Bundesliga win of the season on home soil in their last clash at Volksparkstadion but that was against Borussia Dortmund and perhaps that was the boost they’ve needed. Mainz have been steady away, two wins, two draws and two losses, so it is a tough one but I’m going to say the hosts will just shade it – at a top price of 11/8.
Theoretically as a treble this pays out 9.98 from a one point stake but the best odds aren’t all from the same bookmakers so shop around for the best price if you’re keen. I use Oddschecker.
My luck (or judgement if you prefer) has been way off of late so I’m treating this as a diary rather than straightforward betting tips. Proceed with caution and, obviously, I won’t be held liable for any losses.
Current profit/loss: -11.44 from 27 points spent.
